Cause of Die cast failures
What is the most common cause of Die cast die failure?
Approximately 80% of all die failures stem from heat checking. However, heat checking is sort of like planned obsolescence. You know it will occur, and use regular PM to extend the life to the planned die life. The more serious cause of failure, that occurs approximately 8% of all dies, is gross cracking. Gross cracking prematurely ends the life of the die.
